Texas Wing Cadet Competition 2006

Camp Mabry, Austin, TX- Texas Wing Cadet Competition was held at National Guard base Camp Mabry, Austin, February 10-12, 2006. One drill team and six color guard teams vied for the prestigious honor of representing Texas at the Southwest Region Competition to be held at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona in April.

Group 4’s Thunderbird Composite Squadron based out of West Houston Airport, Houston, TX, has again won the honor of representing Texas at the Southwest Region cadet competition. Thunderbird won first place in all categories except Quiz Bowl. Team commander C/Msgt. John Barron lead his team with knowledge, care and precision. Group 3’s Pegasus Composite Squadron, based at Camp Mabry, made a strong showing coming in second while third place went to Group 4’s Sheldon Cadet Squadron, part of the Civil Air Patrol’s middle school initiative in Sheldon ISD located in east Houston. Sheldon Cadet Squadron was also the single entry for drill team and will represent Texas at the region competition.
