Thunderbird Cadets Receive VFW Award

Katy, TX- VFW Post 9182 held its annual awards ceremony Monday March 6, 2006. Navy Sea cadets and Civil Air Patrol cadets posted the colors. Katy mayor Doyle Callender opened the ceremony with a short speech. “Thank you to everyone for all that you do for our community.” The awards recognized local teachers, police, EMT’s, Navy Sea Cadets and Civil Air Patrol Cadets. Junior High and high school students participated in an essay contest and the winners are announced.
2nd Lt. Cameron Thompson was chosen as CAP Cadet Officer of the year, CMSgt Annabel Andrews was chosen as the CAP NCO Cadet of the year. |

| Both cadets are with Thunderbird Composite Squadron, based out of West Houston Airport. The cadets were selected for their leadership skills and participation at all levels of CAP. “It’s nice to be recognized for all the hard work, I feel especially honored” said Cadet Andrews. She is on an award winning color guard team that will represent the Texas Wing at the Southwest Region Cadet Competition in April. Both cadets were awarded ribbons that can be worn on a military uniform should the recipient so choose to join the service. |
