Thunderbird Squadron Holds Field Training Exercise

West Houston Airport- Thunderbird Composite Squadron held an overnight FTX beginning Friday May 19. The camp out was staged on West Houston Airport property. The near by wooded area provided a perfect staging area for the "mission". 1Lt Stephen Starke directed the camp as everyone arrived. The cadets practiced searching for an ELT and recovered a victim. They learned team work in transporting the victim over a stream and on to a "hospital". 1st Lt Michael Hiner and Lt Col Harold Bowden oversaw the UDF training and victim recovery. Many of the attendees are cadet basics, this was an excellent opportunity to learn as they got hands on experience with UDF equipment. The next morning this exercise was melded into the DSAREX the Texas Wing held this weekend.

This camp out was a success, more are planned for the fall.
